Thinking outside the box!

EV (electric vehicle) beats Porsche, Ferrari, Lambo and oh ya... an SUV

I recently watched a movie called "Who Killed the Electric Car" and yes it was a little biased as they did present electric cars as the only salvation of the future. At the time, only a week ago, I was complaining that this movie's opinion of EV success was a little short as the battery capacity of EV cars failed to satisfy anyone outside of Hollywood. What's good for Mel Gibson may not be good for me.

Then I heard about EEStor's top secret ultra capacitor. Read more

I was watching the 2006 F1 race at Indianapolis Motor Speedway from ITV1 , a UK station, and they had a great side story about this school program called "F1 in Schools" which gives kids a chance to learn about engineering and project management. Read more

Installing a multi-site system on Drupal in less than 10 minutes

14 day forecasts with NASA's Ames Research Center

The Ames Research Center, at Moffat Field, has over $3.0 billion in capital equipment, 4,000 research personnel and a $775 million annual budget. Ames plays a critical role in virtually all of NASA missions in support of America's space and aeronautics programs. Its role expands beyond the realm of space and into things that impact our daily lives. Ames used synthetic brainpower to design antennas for use on three small ST5 satellites that were launched into Earth orbit in March 2006. Read more

Yahoo and where is my mobile phone

I would like to make some obsevations on usability, or rather the lack there of in product design. For the past 12 months I have been working on a web-based electronic signature service. I sat on every meeting, discussing design, layout and usability. Making sure that our product 'made sense' was very important to me. What's very frustrating is seeing a huge company with very large developement budgets just simply fail to think things through. Read more

Google's new Government Search Tool versus the FirstGov site

Google Notebook and why can't I do EVERYTHING in one place?

Google does have a great little notebook and it wants to share it with everyone.... along with its gmail, spreadsheets, maps, calendars and everything else. The problem, and personally its a huge problem is that while 'everyone' and do everything on Google no one person can do everything in one place. What is the benefit of using Google if all of their services are strung around like someone just spilled the jar of Google? I need a search engine/web portal just to organize all of my Google services. At least Microsoft 'integrates' MS Word with Outlook. Google does nothing of the kind. Read more

(online here) has some critical questions on whether companies and IT teams are prepared for a US outbreak. Read more
