UT Dallas Career Center

My first big web project was for the UTD Career Center, back in 2003. The Career Center wanted a site the could be navigated in a very slow connection and could be edited by non-technical staff. After some discussions they chose to use iframes. This allows the images to be loaded only once and the text loads quickly in the middle.

The text files are also easily edited by the staff in any number of text editors. In hind site I should have written all of the text files as includes using ASP. It would have accomplished the same benefit of separating the content from the web presentation, but the end result would have been much cleaner.

Recently the UTD campus has been going through a web consolidation phase, trying to get all of the campus websites to look some what the same. I am very excited by this as UTD campus web was very very un-coordinated. It is still not perfect but at least it is getting better.
