Sugar CRM

In researching for the Asterisk PBX project I came across an incredible open source CRM product called Sugar Suite. Sugar CRM has only been available since the beginning of 2005, but it is a full featured CRM tool that has been modeled almost exactly from Salesforce.com. Entirely web-based, it has easy to use customizing features that allow it to be molded into a product that will work in just about any business. If you have a knack at PHP and basic programming then you will really love SugarCRM, as the company openly supports its users getting their hands 'dirty'.

As an open source package, and especially since it is so new, SugarCRM does have room for improvement. Their staff is often aware of these issues and has been regularly coming out with updates and asks for suggestions in the Sugar Forums.

If you are installing Asterisk@Home then setting this up could not be any easier. Just put the CD in and the entire OS (with Asterisk and SugarCRM) is built. I believe from reading the forums that install Sugar on an existing server would also be very straight-forward.
