A little of everything professional. This site contains the largest online collection of electronic signature laws and research, my views on Time Management & GTD life hacks for improving productivity, and my After Thoughts on bad decisions and business improvements. Personal thoughts and casual comments are pushed to my SEO project, The World's Greatest Guy.
Putting it all together
Just like I alway do, once I decided to switch over to a CMS (Content Mang System) website I researched everyone solution available. While there are many options, especially if all I wanted was a blog, Drupal stood out as a clear winner. Let me mention a few of the key points that won me over. Drupal has a huge support community that often responds to my questions within minutes of posting. Drupal has more plugable Modules than I could ever wish to install. It goes beyond mere blogging to offer advanced eCommerce, community forums, dynamic galleries, and many more solutions that I know will eventually be important to either me or a potential client.
Installing Drupal was very very simple. I used 1and1 hosted service for my initial site, so I will so that as a reference.
Download the file from drupal.org and then unpack them on your local machine. Before you upload the files there are a few changes that need to be made.
- Enter your Database and URL in the PHP Settings (sites/default/settings.php)
- Import the MySQL database file (database/database.mysql) to your DB server
- Upload the drupal folders to you web server
- Go to the main index page and login directions follow you through the next steps
Now I know this is not a detailed map of how to install Drupal, but what I really wanted to display is how simple the process really is for first time users.
