How to Upload Multiple Files to Google Documents

in

First you might wonder why I want to use Google Documents... its free, its available on any PC, I can share the files online and best of all I can SEARCH the contains of each file as a massive database or easy to use wiki (a wiki that's easy to learn and exports the files too). I use Google Documents to manage projects and research so it is available from any PC anywhere. It is becoming a large part of my productivity and GTD (Getting This Done) workflow.

I have been using Google Documents for much of my online research but was slow to load in the hundreds of files from my desktop. Why? Because for some reason, despite the fact that Google gives you a ton of storage space it only allowed me to upload the files ONE AT A TIME (it would be nice to maybe upload a zip file as ActiveX would force me to use IE). Man I just don't have the time or patience for that. But there is an alternative... email your multiple files to Google Documents.

  • Attach a supported document
    - Each attached document will be converted to HTML and appear as a separate document.
    - The title of each document will be the file name of each attachment.
    - With attachments, the message text itself will be ignored.

The new Google Document name will match the file name. Since the files on my hard drive have been using the same names for years the upload is fairly easy. Attach as many as you like just make sure that each one is no bigger than 1mb (Presentations can be 10mb). Now by massive uploads I can get a head start on my GTD and PKM (personal knowledge management).
