Google Sandboxes its own services with bad SEO

It appears that today Google has finally launched its Calendar
project called CL2, but you wouldn't know that from Google. In fact you
might not know a lot of things about Google because many of its best
services do not receive top SERP (Search Engine Results Page).

Just in case google changes its tune, I will later link some screen captures of the SERP for gServices. Here is what I found:

"adsense" - Google ranks the top 3 spots
"analytics" - The google service gets top billing

"translate" - Altavista, FreeTranslate, Systran and then Google in 4th place
"maps" - Mapquest, Yahoo and then Google maps
"finance" - Yahoo Finance scores #1 with Google Finance in 6th
"sitemap" - Google's Sitemap is in second place, being outranked by eBay
"email" - Yahoo, Hotmail, Mail.com and in 4th place is Gmail

"CL2" - Google ranks 3rd place for a search of its own service
"calendar" - I gave up looking after page 6
"online calendar" - I gave up looking after page 6

Someone commented below that Google does this for 'credibility' of
their search. I seriously doupt this because if you notice the only two
services that get top billing, adsense and analytics, are also the two
services that have dev teams working within SEO. Adsense and Analytics
does it because their department had the skill sets and the other
internal departments either don't or didn't take the time.

This does make me feel better, as it had taken me several months to
get my last website fully indexed. And a project I did at work for PrivaSign's electronic signature laws took just over 2 months to come out of the Google Sandbox. But now they rank top ten for "UETA + State_Name".

But you would think that the company that literally wrote the Google
SEO book would know how to rank their own services higher than the
competition. I certainly feel like my company's eSign service is the
very best, why wouldn't Google think the same? (clarification: Google
should do it because they know How SEO Works not just because they can simply fake it.)

I do love Google's programs, but maybe some of the rumors are true.
Maybe Google is growing so fast that it cannot coordinate something as
simple as ranking its own pages.
