Drupal User Login and Easy access

in

Here's two simple things that I did for my single user install of Drupal. First turn off the User login from the home page. Unless you want everyone and their uncle creating accounts on your website, and since my site is just for me, you need to disable this feature.

Just go to /admin/block and uncheck the "User login". Now if you need to login just enter www.example.com/user in the URL and you are ready to go.

If you are building a single user website you need to review the options in /admin/access. There maybe features that you do not want various users to have access to.

If you are like me it drives me nuts to constantly waste my time clicking on useless buttons if there is a faster way to get something done. So it is also a good idea to expand a few of the menu options. Just go to /admin/menu and click edit on the administer menu item. Check make the Expand box and submit. Now all of your admin features are just one click away.

Disable registration too

You might also want to disable user registration altogether. On 4.7, go to administration->settings->users, and it should be the first setting (only site administrators can make user accounts). On 4.6, it's under administer->users->configure I believe.

Good call.

Yes I did forget to mention this one. I had set it to Admin approval which still helps to control this issue but not like having it set to Admin creates as you suggested.
