Traveling with technology - the smarter way to fly
Here are all of my favorite Mobile Websites .
I have been looking into a way to check flight status from my cell phone with a text message or SMS. I thought about Google since it already has a pretty good mobile search function. But after a few tests I realized that it would not give me the results I needed. Then I found a really cool tool for finding flight status on your cell phone. It's called 4INFO. I know that they provide mobile searches just like Google but what makes them better for flight status alerts is the fast, easy and simple search strings.
Just text message the search to 44636 (4INFO)
Example: To find out the status of a SouthWest flight 1628 just send "sw 1628" to 44636
Example: To find out what flights South West has from DFW to Houston just send "sw dfw hou" to 44636
If you don't like having to remember the search terms just go to 4INFO download page for an application to download to your cell phone.
The U.S. Federal Aviation Agency or Fly FAA website displays flight status for U.S. airports. The status information provided on the site indicates general airport conditions, so it is not flight or airline specific. However you can get information on wait times at security checkpoints. You can also access this information from your mobile device via the Mobile Access to Fly FAA service.
Google is offering a feature that will link you directly to Expedia/Hotwire/Orbitz/Priceline/Travelocity from targeted search queries. Here, try searching for a flight from DFW to Houston - Google SERP.
