Digg your way to better SERP
About 1 year ago I bought the domain name theworldsgreatestguy.com as kind of an in-side SEO joke around our office at the start-up PrivaSign. I was trying to SEO our company site and once over beers joked that it would be funny to say to someone in a bar that according to Google I was the "world's greatest guy". Well for about 9 months that is exactly what Google said with very little SEO effort of my own. And then I happened to be in a bar having a few drinks with someone discussing VOIP, start-ups and SEO and mentioned my Google trick. But much to my disappointment Google moved me away to from their list. So off came the gloves.
Getting to the top of the SERP was easy the first time... getting back will take more than a few good articles. I had neglected my SEO duties and therefore began to pay the price. More work was needed. I started writing a few new stories with title and theme similar to my intended SE query goals and then I began posting those new articles to various social bookmark sites. And this is the funny part.... Google ranked the posted bookmark from Digg as the #2 result in less than 2 days.

This helps to show how Google is placing value in social trends among these types of sites. This also makes for rather simple SEO, even if the link is placed 'through' the bookmark site. I have placed social bookmark links at the bottom of all my blogs (as you can see below) and I am now an even bigger fan of this feature. I used the Service Links module from Drupal to run this tool.
