nVidia won't support firewall issues
So here is nVidia Customer Support
website for customer's who buy their products to then find answers and
solutions. Well that is what I originally thought. I must admit that I
hate asking for tech advise from tech support. They never seem to have
the answers and is usually a waste of my time. But after spending
months searching for ways to uninstall the nVidia Active Armour
Firewall with no success I tried to turn to the folks that actually
made the product. What I found is that not only did it take 2 months
to respond to my issue, they told me that it was not their problem and
that I should contact the motherboard vendor even though it is their
chip that has the issue.
This is just bad customer relations. I am upset that a huge company
cannot get their product to work as advertised but what really upsets
me is not getting answers. "Tell me" that you are at least aware of the
issue. "Tell me" how to fix it or at the very least "Tell me" that it
can't be fixed so I can move on with my life and stop googling for
something that doesn't exist.

========= My original post 02/17/2006 04:52 PM ==============
I bought and installed a new PC (LANPARTY UT nF4 SLI-DR w/ NVIDIA nForce4 SLI and the nVidia firewall.)
I thought that the nvidia firewall was a great option but I have had
nothing but trouble with it. I have also found a complete lack of
information regarding from nvidia.
Here are my issues:
1) I can't uninstall it
2) I can't re-install it
3) It just stays in between installed and removed so as to affect my other programs and PC operation
3.1 - Battlefield 2 has connectivity issues despite all required ports being opened on my router
3.2 - Azureus bittorrent client (java based) shutdown after about 2 hours due to "c:\windows\system32\nvappfilter.dll"
This is the history of the issue. I built my PC (MS XP pro) and
installed all of the newest drivers on a partition and then create disk
image. I used this image to make my primary OS on a different
partition. When I was logged into the primary OS I could not access the
nvidia firewall settings. It was restricted to the Admin, and yet I was
logged in as Admin! I could only access the firewall settings if I
booted into the original OS. I thought I would reinstall the driver on
the primary OS, but had to uninstall it in the original OS first. I
thought it uninstalled but it still appears in Add-Remove Programs.
Now I cannot re-stall the firewall on to either OS! It says " The
installed version of the software is not the same as the current setup.
Please remove the previous version before install this version"
How do I do that????
Thank you. Please send help.

Hello,
We're sorry for the delay, but we are not able to address installation,
usage and troubleshooting questions via this forum. NVIDIA
does not sell any hardware products directly to consumers, and therefore cannot provide direct technical support.
Please refer to our partner support list for support (www.nvidia.com/page/partner_support.html). In addition,
answers to many of the most frequently asked questions can be found in our knowledge base by clicking on

I seriously cannot believe that it takes 2 months for a company to
respond to a "customers" serious technical issue only to say that its
not your problem. I hope plenty of people see this post (it has all be
copied to my website as well) and see just what corp America has come
to.
You may not sell to customers, but its not your vendors fault when your products fail to meet advertised functionality.
I still, after 5 months of ownership, have ALL of the following issues.
WHY CAN'T I SIMPLY DISABLE/REMOVE/DELETE YOUR FIREWALL???
Please just help me because your vendors and NO ONE ELSE has any clue how to fix this.

P.S - There are posted issues about my problem all over the net and
no one has received an anwser from nvidia. Since they are not willing
to take any responsibility I plan to never buy a product from an
un-supportive company like nvidia again.
